Enter the Warlord

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on June 5, 2014 by theerivs

warlock5So I got invited into Alpha for Warlords of Draenor, and big thanks to my friend who shall remain nameless who hooked me up.

I didn’t get to play too much, but I delved into a little…let me give you some initial thoughts.

My app didn’t have a spot to download new client, so the forums directed me to another place ,and that worked. If you’re having problems the forums is a good place to check.

The login screen is a throwback of an earlier screen I think the original which had the dark portal before you. The music on login and character select is awesome. It sounds like a war song with it’s drums beating.

I tried the in game character copy stuff, but it didn’t work, I found out there’s a way to do a beta copy character through the account page. and that worked. I copied my Warlock, but when I tried to enter it said that race/class could not be played at the moment. Ok well I made a level 90 Orc Warlock. He started with Green level 500 gear, and plenty of bag space, and 10k gold. Not too shabby. I went Destruction cause I figured it was easiest way to start. My toon started on Draenor, and it had me plant banners, and click on flags which is an interesting new concept. The flags/banners we’re like ghost, and you click on them and it plants them and it shows up. At least no bag space taken up.  After doing a couple of quests it tosses you right into your Garrison, and you start working on them. I left it at that point. One of the uber cool things is I had ALL the mounts it seems like, so I road around on the Magic Rooster

Only problems so far, was it performed a little shotty but I was downloading the client at the same time, and/or I didn’t look at the video options they may be needed to dumb down.  So I won’t concern myself with that. I also had a problem with my level 30 talent, it would not let me pick one.

So in the days, weeks, months to come I’m sure I’ll have more news for you.

Confession of a Reformed Botter

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on May 21, 2014 by theerivs

hot girl 6As I go into the confessional, I say, “forgive me father I have sinned it’s been..well a long time since my last confession. I lusted, stole, and one more thing I can’t mention.

The priest replies, “All sins are forgiven her my son”

I gulp, and say, “I use to bot in Warcraft”

The priest goes, “Get out, your excommunicated you piece of shit”

Yes I use to be a botter. I started back in the tail end of Burning Crusade, I was bored and a ton of my friends, who were also my coworkers, and guildies were doing it. I use to sit there at work while they check on their toons working away unattended and I admit I was amazed. The program they all used was Glider. At first I dabbled, cause I was scared I would lose my account. Then I got a second account to do all my gliding with. I would set it up and it would go to work at the beginning of the day, I would get home and be loaded down with stuff, and gold, or honor depending on what I wanted to do.

Was it cheating sure was, but the fact alot of my friends were doing it made it seem a little bit ok. I was enthralled at the toon sitting there pathing, and doing it’s thing Glider was a pretty nifty program. The community they had was pretty good bunch of guys too.

Well fallout came when Blizzard put the clamps on Glider, and to my surprise my main account took the hit and was banned, while my second account still was intact and which I still use today, and two of my toons were glided to 70 lol

I do miss my first account with my first toon I ever played with, and the mage I raided MC, and BWL with and that was the price I paid for botting. I never dabbled again because I left that job, and my coworkers and I seldom played since. I don’t even buy gold cause I don’t see the point, if your smart you can make all you need and more.

It was an interesting experience, and I don’t regret it but when I see a bot (and I can tell which toons are) I just shake my head, and go they’ll get you to one day.

Someone’s Got a Case of the Mondays

bill-lundurg-office-spaceWell this weekend sucked arse. I couldn’t go to C2E2 due to a family situation where I had to help my Mother with something and Brother was out of town. Just as well, I’m kind of hurting on money and I would probably need to take out a loan for all the stuff i want.

Also Wildstar wasn’t behaving I kept getting a network connection error which it says if your not authorized for that beta weekend you can’t get in. Was it my imagination but didn’t they say this weekend if you were in previous beta weekends you could get in. I guess not.

I decided to load up the old Guild Wars 2.  Man it’s been a while since I played this game.  Got a 35 warrior, but I swear my necromancer was a higher level. Oh well. I started to get back into it. I really do like the feel and look of this game. I don’t know why I stopped. I’m going to try to get to 80, but we’ll just enjoy ourselves and not rush.

As for WoW, still trying to make some gold…I don’t know if you’ll need gold for Garrisons, but just in case I want alot.

Brawling My Balls Off

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on March 24, 2014 by theerivs

boxing1This weekend even though I’ve been killing rare pvps for easy honor, and some warscouts, which I’m a little pissed off about I haven’t gotten the mount yet, stingy Zandalari bastards.  I’ve been working on my Brawling Guild Rep, and taking down opponents.

These fights are some pretty tough ones, which I’m surprised that they are, my Warlock and Blueberry Lord are doing their best, yes I had a hiccup here and there, if you’re a pure dps class like Rogue, or a tank like a Pally tank that doesn’t do much damage I don’t know how you would survive. I think Hunters, Locks, and DK’s are the only ones good at Brawling.

Anywho I’m at Level 5 now, I got the pet reward. It’s starting to get hard now, and I may need to start looking up strats. I really want the mount, will it kill me if I don’t get it? No…but I want it.

Get Your PvEness out of My PvP

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on January 31, 2014 by theerivs

daisy_de_la_hoyaUsually I write a lovely recap post today, but something irked me.  Belghast wrote a lovely post, which other bloggers touched on, and a forum post. which delves into the issue.  I really have one thing to say to that.

First off I am not a hard core PvP’er by any means….but I am a PvP’er as opposed to a PvE’er. I have to deal with your crappy PvE all the time…FOR YEARS!. Remember Alterac Valley….that little BG that’s been around for YEARS!. Yeah it has PvE elements in it, that I despise. Why? Why do I need to wait for tanks to tank general, why do I need to to go get the mines for resources.

Also why do I need to go PvE for some BiS slot items for PvP.  Really? I have to put up with Carebears, and snotty nosed know it all kids who just stopped suckling at their mama’s teet.

Oh…you get ganked once in awhile. I really hope I’m the one ganking these people…revenge is a dish best served cold, and I got years of pent up rage just from AV…yeah 10+ hour slug fests build up a lot of anger.  So deal with it, and move on.

Twerking It

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on January 20, 2014 by theerivs

0So I’m twerking hard, reached 80, and about to hit 81 tonight I hope.

Couple things I’m going to mention.

I HATE THAT BEGINNING WATER ZONE! There is nothing in the World of Warcraft I think I hate more. I even hate that dungeon. It’s designed like poop, and it’s incredibly longer then it should be. I guess getting not some of the brightest players in there as well, does not help one bit.

The sooner I get out of Cataclysm the better, so I’ll be pressing the nose against the grindstone. In good news, I’m maxed out with Alchemy. I went with transmutation master, cause I like gold. Already back to making a positive cash flow.  I think I’ll work on Tailoring next.

Power Overwhelming

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on January 13, 2014 by theerivs

zach_warlock-pets-loveI didn’t reach 80 this weekend, but I did hit 76. I took the Grimoire of Supremacy talent, and I love my new demons, well except Shivarra, but I’ll get to that.

Fel Imp – I love his little sayings. “It’s my favorite warlock!”

Voidlord – Just looks Bad Ass with his armor on!

Observer – Haven’t had to much chance to play with him, looking forward to maybe PvPing with him a bit.

Shivarra – I want my old Succubus back, she is way hotter, and sexier, but I guess she has her uses.

I got to say though I’m really enjoying the class, even though I don’t have portals anymore, or free food or water I don’t really seem to need those things on my own. I’m a soloing monster, and I can hold my own on dps as Destro.  When I hit 90, I might have to eat my words to all those dirty warlocks, cause I’m quickly becoming one of them.

Warlords of Doldrums

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on November 11, 2013 by theerivs

when-hot-girls-get-bored-they-do-thisWell pretty much Blizz dropped a few things, some I’m looking forward to. I never played an MOBA style game, but I might check out Heroes of the Storm. I’m already loving Hearthstone.

I’ve played WoW since Beta, and this is the first expansion I was like ‘Meh’. I mean we’re going back to the past. Really? Seriously?

Do I like some of the things the expansion is bringing? Yes I do, I can’t complain about upgraded models, and the Garrison thing looks interesting. The rest of it, I really am unimpressed, it’s really pushing me in other directions like TESO, or Wildstar which I’m not really into either. I am just waiting for Camelot Unchained (Thanks @JShabbing), which can’t come soon enough.

Tell you the truth I think Blizzard will be phoning it in, and not doing a whole bunch of work until they get things with Titan hammered out.

I’ve got Huge Fireballs

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on October 7, 2013 by theerivs

jaina-proudmooreSo I entered Hearthstone, not knowing really what to expect. I have to say I was mildly pleased with what I played, despite I didn’t get to play enough due to an issue (which I’ll have to report tonight when I get a chance) .

I played basically the 6 first “missions” or games as a tutorial. First thing is I had fun, it wasn’t hard but I did have one challenge until I figured out a strategy. Which for me was really cool, I love when there’s a problem in a game, then I get an A-HA moment.

A couple of things, one was from my stupidity, other was a problem in game. I didn’t know some of the cards we’re minion cards since they had abilities. Like Raid Leader, I thought that was just a power card of some type. Until I caught on. The other issue, and where I stopped was that the game froze after the tutorial while I was trying to build a deck., I’ll log in tonight, and see if there’s still an issue, and if so report it.

Overall I had a bit of fun, there’s a lot of Blizzard humor here which keeps the game light hearted, and I really enjoyed blasting Illidan in the face with my Fireball…that bitch wasn’t prepared.

Missing Me Some Vanilla

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on September 17, 2013 by theerivs

icecream-girlWell The Noisy Rogue is posting some old school stuff on his blog and it got me walking down nostalgia lane.  I got the blogging bug in late 2007, but I didn’t start actually blogging myself until 2008. Here’s my first post about gaming.  I really do miss Vanilla at times, but I know I’m looking back on rose colored glasses sometimes.

6 Reasons I miss Vanilla WoW.

6. Society/Faction Pride – You had a server, and on that server you had community. I loved the fact you got to know people easier, and reputations were made, or lost by how you acted. You had pride in your faction, and would perk up when someone screamed “For the Horde!” or “For the Alliance!”

5. Epic Mount Meant Something.-  When you got one it was like a major achievement for me. Since to get it I had to pretty much corner the market on selling pets back then it was no easy feat.

4. The First TIme Ragnaros Popped Out – Just breathtaking and never seen anything like it in a game before.

3. Teamwork – Getting a 40 man raid, together and all working on the same page took great leadership, and great teamwork. It was awesome being on a team of mages, and the camaraderie we had.

2. Getting My First Epic – Now Epics are so commonplace it’s sick. I remember I was in all blues for quite some time, until one of my guild leaders gave me a present, it was a purple one handed axe. Not the best tanking weapon, but I used it with pride.

1. The Epic Battles – The Southshore/Tarren Mill battles, or the Crossroads battles were always fun and epic. I miss the hey day of World PvP.

I know there are probably alot more, but these are pretty much some of the major reasons I loved Vanilla, but like all things, WoW must change as well.
