Enter the Warlord

warlock5So I got invited into Alpha for Warlords of Draenor, and big thanks to my friend who shall remain nameless who hooked me up.

I didn’t get to play too much, but I delved into a little…let me give you some initial thoughts.

My battle.net app didn’t have a spot to download new client, so the forums directed me to another place ,and that worked. If you’re having problems the forums is a good place to check.

The login screen is a throwback of an earlier screen I think the original which had the dark portal before you. The music on login and character select is awesome. It sounds like a war song with it’s drums beating.

I tried the in game character copy stuff, but it didn’t work, I found out there’s a way to do a beta copy character through the account page. and that worked. I copied my Warlock, but when I tried to enter it said that race/class could not be played at the moment. Ok well I made a level 90 Orc Warlock. He started with Green level 500 gear, and plenty of bag space, and 10k gold. Not too shabby. I went Destruction cause I figured it was easiest way to start. My toon started on Draenor, and it had me plant banners, and click on flags which is an interesting new concept. The flags/banners we’re like ghost, and you click on them and it plants them and it shows up. At least no bag space taken up.  After doing a couple of quests it tosses you right into your Garrison, and you start working on them. I left it at that point. One of the uber cool things is I had ALL the mounts it seems like, so I road around on the Magic Rooster

Only problems so far, was it performed a little shotty but I was downloading the client at the same time, and/or I didn’t look at the video options they may be needed to dumb down.  So I won’t concern myself with that. I also had a problem with my level 30 talent, it would not let me pick one.

So in the days, weeks, months to come I’m sure I’ll have more news for you.

No Girlz Allowed

nogirlsSo today me and the feminists got into it today again over WoD on ye olde Twitter.  I think I’ve grown and am a little more mature since my youth, and like all Lawful Evil people I have a code I abide to, as well as they say if you want to understand someone walk a mile in their shoes, and I did. Heels are a mutha yo. Though I’m more in touch with my feminine side, I still get a knee jerk reaction from the hard core feminists.

The posts in question are namely, Why do we Fight, and Draenor Rock City. Here are my issues…

1. The Game isn’t Even Released Yet –  The game isn’t even released yet and people are picking it apart from second hand sources. I mean really give them time to work on the game, and fix issues before you tear it apart.

2. Chopper Thing – I really don’t know why Blizz is doing this, I really don’t care, but motorcycles are not just the realm of men. My girlfriend loves motorcycles. I do not. I play their game, I don’t ride around on their motorcycles.

3. Thy Name is Hypocrite –  So your still going to play when it comes out, and in your heart of hearts you call it sexist, and defamatory toward females. That makes you a hypocrite, and probably worse then someone who is ignorant.

4. Helping Hand – We need more females in gaming, these posts do more harm then good I think by scaring them into thinking video games are just filled with misogyny, and bad stuff.  I think your helping those guys that don’t want girls in video games, by knocking back the ones on the fence.

5. Being savage is not the realm of man alone –  Women are no stranger to savagery as I see the news filled with mothers killing their children, or shows like Snapped showing where women do horrible things.

6. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar – I think some people are seeing things that may not be the case, or trying to connect dots that just arent connecting.

Are there problems in video games being male-centric? Yes I do. Do I believe as a man I can try to do my best to make these video games more welcoming to my female friends? Yes for sure.  In the end though Blizzard is a business, and that business is to make money. To make money if that needs to cater to men, it will do so. If you have umbrage with Blizzard do so with your money, cause as my Daddy use to say, “Money talks….bullshit walks”

Tailor Swift

taylor-swift-6So I’ve been working on my Tailoring cause I want to make the 553 pants, and belt. I have pretty much all honor gear at 522 minus the pants, and one trinket. A couple things about leveling a profession it is expensive as hell. I think I burned through almost 10k of gold doing it, and I’m pretty broke now. That’s ok I got a lot of time to build back my gold reserves before WoD.

Interesting thing last night I usually do an Onyxia run for the mount, and I got a book that trained me for Northrend Cloth Scavaging. Which I think garners me more cloth drops in Northrend. This might lead me to making some good ole Frostweave bags to up my money. Of course no mount.

I have to farm some Pandarian mobs to get me the celestial cloth recipe tonight, I might down a potion of luck, hopefully that helps.

The future plan with the warlock is just work on accumulating gold, working on some fun transmogs, and getting my Brawlers Guild rank up, plenty to do until Warlords.

My Expanded Thoughts

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on March 13, 2014 by theerivs

felicia-dayWarlord of Draenor is coming and people are all excited about it, and some not to excited about it. I’ve been thinking about some things and thought I would give my 2 cents worth, which sadly on todays currency market is only worth 1.3 cents.

Insta-90′s – I don’t really mind about insta-90’s  because I’m not a serious raider, but I use to be and would understand the challenges for hardened raiders when dealing with this. There is talk of a mechanic where you would need at least a silver in challenge mode to get into certain raids. I see this as a double edged sword, a good thing that something to measure skill besides the item level, bust a bad thing as it can be abused, and even cheated on.

Gear Changes – I think some gear changes are really in order, and need to bring back to basics.  Something interesting about quests giving random epic stuff sounds interesting.

10 more levels – I like leveling so this will be fun, but then again I got 3 toons, possibly 4 (if I boost a toon) to do it with so I’m not looking forward too all that grinding.

Garrisons– One of the major features I am really looking forward too. I need more gold for this I’m sure, been farming nonstop. I want to hit 200k on gold before the expansion hits, and if I do boost a 90 have that toon ready to level as well

Racial Traits – Not so pleased on some things, like where’s Diplomacy? Also not to happy with upping the Forsaken’s trait to 3 minutes instead of 2. Some of the others are pretty ok, like the Goblins upped haste buff. So I’m a little torn here.

No Flying Mounts – Uhm Suck my Cock Blizz. I really hate this. Of course I understand in the beginning no flying mounts but if I hit 100 I want to fly around damn it.

Overall – I’m really looking forward to this expansion, sure I would love a new class, or race, and some other stuff like flying…I think though overall it looks like it will be a good time.
