Blogging Carnival – Gold Making Strategies for Cataclysm

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on November 29, 2010 by theerivs

That time of month where Markco has his Blogging Carnival, this months topic “What is your Cataclysm gold making strategy?”

I’ve been thinking alot about this lately, I had to rethink my paradigm’s. I’m going to toss the ideas I’ve been thinking about, and hit you with them.

1. People Power-leveling Professions – New Expansions bring new alts. So mid-level mat’s are going to play a big role. I feel Northrend/Outland Mats will be more premium as people won’t be heading to those areas as much. Also alot of professions have sticky points at ranges where they need alot of a mats, figure out those sticky points, and you might see yourself making a bit of gold.

2. Enchanting – I think Enchanting is going to be rather lucrative. Lots of new gear means people will be needing lot’s of new enchants.

3. Bags – New Toons, mean we need more bags, look at Abyssal Bags, large slot size, and mats not bad to either.

4. Portals – It’s good to be a mage, and with the removing portals from Dalaran/Shattrah, and at 10g a shot for 5 seconds of work. That’s a gold to time ration a dress-wearer loves.

5. Enhancement Items – Like Belt Buckles, Leg Armor, Threads, for the same reason I feel enchants will be making money, these will too. New gear means they need to Enhance as well.

Think Outside the Box –

Crafted Gear – I was thinking you could make a bit of gold of of crafted gear, but Miss Mediocre covered it way better than I could so check her out.

Low-Level Dungeon Runs – Make your tank work for you, and run all these new low level toons through dungeons…for a fee of course.

Somethings to avoid –

Copper/Linen/ Light Leather – I think with all the new lowbie toons running around,  I think this market will be flooded.

Epic crafting – with new gear coming down the pike who’s gonna want ICC crafted stuff, though you might get Primordial Saronite dirt cheap…don’t get tempted into it.

Of course these thoughts are just that, and until Cataclysm hits we got to see what trends, and things actually do work, but it’s good to go into war with a battle plan, and to quote the movie Rising Sun, “Business is War.”

A New Voice…

A Tip…

Before I get into what’s going to be happening around here…I feel for the plight of my Tailors who now thanks to Blizzard, and the cloth changes,  are hard pressed to make some money these days. What I found are still selling good are Sapphire SpellThreads. Even when I have to buy the mats 4 Eternal fire at 80 gold, 1 Frozen Orb for 20 gold, and 4 IceWeb Webbing which goes for 5 gold per on my server, so for 120 gold, and I sell for 200gold, I make 80 gold profit per. Tuesdays, and Thursdays are real good day to post them too cause those are raid days. Of course look around for prices if you can get Frozen Orbs for cheaper than eternal fire’s then buy the orbs and exchange them in Dalaran.

A New Voice….

Well I was thinking alot lately, and I want a little break now and then so I invited someone to write some stuff. She calls herself  Bee, she is a faithful reader, and commenter on my blogs for a while. I was thinking, it’s time to get a fresh voice here at High Latency Life. I talk about my penis, and swing my balls around like I was demolishing a building around here. I thought it would be nice to have someone to maybe clean this blog up a little, a lighter touch to subjects,  a ying to my yang so to speak.  Thursdays is going to be her day,I gave her free reign on that day…. but I plan to put her to work, test her, and bring out the animal with in. I plan to corrupt her to become a vessel of hate like myself then send her out into the virtual world…..Oh wait I said too much.

Well tomorrow she is going to introduce herself to you, and I for one welcome her to the High Latency Family, and hope you do as well.  Good Luck Bee.

Koala Inspired Me….with her Warlock Guide.

1. Pick an Offensive spell such as Fireball, or Frostbolt.

2. Find a Mob

3. Aim at said Mob.

4. Cast your spell of choice, until said mob is dead.

5. Loot Mob

6. If Mob has loot, sell said loot, if just coins save said coins.

7. Rinse and Repeat.

9. Profit.

Some helpful tips.

A. Don’t die

B. When you have no mana, do not cast spells until you do have mana.

C. Don’t spend your gold on female night elf, or female blood elf strippers in Darnassus, or Undercity. They are really guys, how do i know…I earned 20 gold stripping so far.

D. IF you do die…die in such a manner where people come to you and go…”Dude, that’s messed up, How the Hell did that even happen?”

E. When doing Arcane Blast, please refrain from going “Pew Pew Pew” I know it’s hard to resist, but it gives the rest of us bad names.

F. Do not ever give away a portal aways free…their ALL ours.

WoW: So you want to start fresh. Some tips for you.

So I started fresh on a few servers, and I got some tips for you. I enjoy it, it’s a challenge. Not much of an altoholic. I just enjoy starting from scratch. Like new. I’ve done it a couple times now, and you may want some tips to help you along.

#1 – Get gathering professions to get gold. I like Mining alot, cause copper ore going for 5g a stack on one server, and 7g on the other. So I grind out 10 stacks, well you do the math.  Then you can be an ore whore too.  As for Crafting, meh. I only do it because lowbie gear is hard to find, it fills in the blanks sometimes.

#2 – Once you got some dough, get the best bags you can buy. Thee Best Jerry!

#3- Ask a nice mage to port you to Shat, and bind your hearth there. With the portals there you can move around faster. Why not Dalaran? It’s too laggy, and too many people running around.

Should you join a guild? I say why not. Sure they might be Chinese Gold Farmers, but hey they’re real quiet in guild chat. Seriously though it doesn’t hurt to start making friends. You can always tell them all to go suck your dranei crotch horn, and /gquit. If soloing is your thing more power to you.

I also reccomend getting something like Questhelper. It helps with finding things, and going to thottbot all the time.

So there’s my little tips, any one have more feel free to add them here.
