Did You Think We Had Forgotten?

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on February 27, 2014 by theerivs

Warlock6So I’ve been playing the Warlock alot, the other day I looked at my mage and lamented on how I haven’t played him in awhile, also in light of the mage changes coming down the path I decided I need to update the mage gear at the very least. There is a special place in my heart for the mage class it was my first class I played, though I switched to Warrior when my guild needed tanking. I went back to the mage when my guild left WoW for a short time.

Also I do like playing alliance, most of my buddies are playing alliance now, but my heart will always be horde, even more so the Forsaken. I love the Forsaken philosophy if you will, their survivors. In the Wrathgate cinematic where he says, ” Did you think we had forgotten? Did you think we had forgiven?” I got a forsaken boner.

So last night I logged into the mage, and started updating the gear, I got as much crafted malevolent gear as I can afford to replace some dreadful pieces, then I hit the timeless isle. I did a Celestial, and got bumpkiss.  I did get a few items some cuffs, and boots. Then I got this, a Burden of Eternity. I was like hmm. So I used it on my boots. HOLY CRAP it made it a 535 ilevel boots. NICE. I’m addicted to those now…I want more of em. I’m loving my mage again, so I might be hooked.

Giving into my Dark Urges

Warlock6So all this talk of WoW, and the new expansion. That and my buddy talking about how he logged back in to check out a few things. Got me to hankering some World of Warcraft action, namely I wanted to work on my Warlock.

I always knew Warlocks were Mages on easy mode, but I never thought that easy. Seriously I was killing non-stop. I also did a dungeon, and I just rocked it. I really should get my Voidwalker a Christmas Gift or something, that little blueberry worked his what would pass for his ass off. Taking in pulls of 3 or 4 like is was nothing.

I got to say I can understand someone getting used to that type of power, cause absolute power corrupts…absolutely.

The King is Dead, Long Live the Queen!

bailey-jay-t2First off it was Gay Pride this weekend in Chicago, My Niece was in the Parade, I am very proud of her. It looked like a great time, wish I was there….but I don’t hate gay people, I just hate people in general, so I try to avoid crowds when I can. LOL! In all seriousness I hope this country as a whole, states included recognize the rights of every individual no matter creed, race, orientation, etc. With that being said, let’s move on to my exciting weekend.

So I moved my mage to a different server Kil’Jaeden, as well as leveling my Warlock there. I tried contacting someone in the guild my friend is in, but they didn’t respond. On Friday, in trade chat I saw someone getting together a “For the Horde” group. So I joined the group, and joined in their vent, and the hosting people were called Warsong Clan. They seemed like a fun bunch of people, so I asked to join them, and they let me join.

We went on to crush the Alliance, killed the Wrynn 3 times that day, as well as the rest of the leader. I didn’t get my For the Horde Achievement for some reason, the dwarf king didn’t take, and I’m a little pissed. Created a ticket, but Blizz told me I’m fooked in the dooka in not so many words. It was great fun, and this is what I was looking for a server that had some real life WPvP. Hopefully I can make some new friends in the guild, and have some fun.

Saturday we tried to kill the king again, but the alliance stopped us, but I still hade some fun…

I got my Warlock up to level 35, and I got to say leveling as Destro is pretty easy, I don’t think I died once. My Voidwalker is pretty powerful too, hell I let him do all the work….I come to realize why Warlocks are so damn lazy…

Tale of Douchemagery

bianca-maxim-100So back in the day of 40 man raids, we had a group of core mages that would run together, this was when I played a mage on Thunderlord, on Alliance side with a guild called Kindred Spirit.

Yes I know I did some time playing Alliance, but is with a bunch of dudes from work at the time, and it was pretty awesome. Hell they use to call me Heatscourge at work, and that was my toons name…pretty awesome name for a mage. amiright?

Anywho we were raiding BWL regularly and one piece of Netherwind kept alluding me. The boots, so when they dropped a fellow mage, Raist (Gee a mage named after the Dragonlance mage in WoW. no one ever sees that, amiright?), well even though I had the DKP to do, instead of passing on the boots, Raist rolled on them, and got them. Bastard didn’t even need it. I wasn’t put out of place, Raist was a friend and we joked about it all the time. We joked about how he stole those boots from me, and he always said he was going to disenchant them in front of me.

Well a year later I saw Raist in the flesh, and we we’re joking around, but I kind of forgot about the boots.  He said, he had something to show me…he logged into WoW on his mage. Went to his bank, pulled out the Netherwind boots, and Disenchanted them in front of me live.

What a douchemage!

I did get him back though, he got real drunk and I wrote on his back in perm marker, “I love PvEnis”

So maybe I’m the one full of Douchemagery.

What is this Douchemagery?

thouartI think this is going to be a new column of mine…of all the times I was a Douche….and was up to no good….

I think every mage has opened a portal for some hapless click happy sap to some unknown destination. If you are a mage, and you haven’t, your missing out on a fun aspect of the game.

So back in the days of Vanilla, when I was either in Molten Core, or BWL almost every day of the week, yeah I was hardcore. When you had 40 hardcore nuts raiding with you, sometimes you get a little stir crazy. On this day we we’re finishing Molten Core, and at this point it was pretty routine, and Ragnaros was on farm. I whispered my fellow mages, and we agreed to open all our portals to Darnassus.

So when Rag came down, and loot was handed out, we all opened our ports, and people were clicking away as us mages we’re giggling in our private chat. Then the cries over Vent started.

“You assholes!” …. “WTF!!!” ….” Someone better come get us!”….

All us mages we’re busting out laughing, and I was brought to tears by it.  Let’s just say from then on, our guild looked before they clicked.

Now I’m going to wreck some things

563871_329971053750303_570115100_nMy mage hit 90, and I’m fitting to blow some stuff up….in big time fashion. It’s AV CTA too. Oh shit….it’s on like a pile of neckbones.  I love the mage class, I worked on my Pally more because of utility, Tank, and healers are always needed. My mage is a work of love though. Love because I love blowing things up.

Speaking of Alterac Valley, let me tell you the best things I do in AV. I wait until the Alliance turns the tower, say like Tower Point. I sneak in the tower invisible, and stand in the back of the room. Most of the time, the alliance is standing there watching the door. I pop up in the back of the room, and turn the tower back. When it works….it’s pure awesomeness. I literally almost get a mage boner. I can’t wait to try that a few times tonight.

I converted my justice points, to honor. I had enough honor to get the Mal robe. The rest of my armor is crafted. I am in DIRE need of weapons, and trinkets/rings so I’m going to get those first.

Can’t wait to make some corpse piles…cause Mages didn’t invent corpse piles…we made them better.

Back to Mage School

hot girl 6I’ve been working on my mage quite a bit. as of late. It seems things changed quite a bit since the last time i maged it up. No longer am I the harbinger of death that I use to be, in PvE, or PvP.  I have rotations in every spec now, in Frost I have thinks like Frost Bomb, and I have to keep up my Ice Barrier, and in Fire I have things like Living Bomb, and Combustion. I’m afraid to check out my favorite spec, Arcane I heard it’s not the melt your face spec that it once was either. Though it’s a little more fun, when grinding mobs, I still wish it was fireballx3 = dead, or Frostbolt, Frost Nova, Two Blizzards = dead. Maybe it’s the gear, or the fact I’m still 89.

It’s funny I’ve been playing a mage since Vanilla, and I use to feel god like…not anymore…hell even my portals aren’t as awesome as they use to be.

Well at least I’m not as bad as a couple of players I ran a dungeon with last night. Hey group up during magnetic shroud, and invest in downloading Deadly Boss Mods. Thanks for the 19 minute wait for the epic fail.

Anywho despite all the changes, and the way mage class is set up now, I’m still enjoying it.

Pew…Pew…Pew

I don’t care if Frost is the PvP spec du jour. I don’t care if Fire is pretty cool too.  I love me some Arcane. A true glass cannon.  Going through this AV weekend, getting enough honor to get 7 pieces, and one conquest piece, you have to mix it up a tosh. I do that by whipping out my arcane spec, and blasting alliance with my large blasts of awesomeness, and if they don’t swallow it, it’s going in their eye.

Wait..what? I’m sorry I lost track of myself for a second. I loved arcane in pvp, ever since the days of PoM>AP>Trinket>Pyro days. Ever one shot a Warlock, it’s like sex with out all the cuddling bullcrap afterwards. Arcane mages have long been pretty squishy, but the nice thing about being arcane if I hide in a good crowd, like there is in AV, usually I escape notice, and blast the crap out of people. As long as I don’t let loose the pew..pew…lazers. I’m good, but once in a while it slips. Then my enemies are on me like white on rice.

I’ll admit when it counts, and I’m with guildies I’m frost in PvP, but when it’s late at night, and no ones looking. I slip into my arcane spec, and let my arcane flag fly, baby.

I haven’t had a chance to hit up AV with the Pally, I do want to fill out my prot gear just in case I carry the flag or something. Hopefuly I’ll play around tonight, but I’m having too much fun with the mage.

I Feel Like a Good Slowfall.

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on January 25, 2012 by theerivs

I’m going to be honest, I love SWTOR. I loved RIFT, I loved Warhammer.

There are times though I really miss my mage. We had alot of adventures together. He’s like an old friend that I use to pal around together.  As I think back to my mage, there are some things I just truly miss.

Some things I miss….

5. Blinking the hell out of there – As a mage sometimes you get a little overrunned by the mobs. Running away is a strategy to a mage, and nothing like running and blinking the hell out of a situation, toss in a good frost nova and I would laugh my arse off as I ran.

4. Invisibility –  I loved it when everyone else wiped, and I’d sit there and wait for them to come back, cause I hit Invisible at the right time when we wiped.

3. Blizzard – I love all the huge numbers that would be flying by when I would open up a can of whoop-ass.

2. Teleports – Man, making gold off them, tricking people with them, heck sometimes I would just teleport cause I was bored.

1. Slowfall – When life would get me down, or I was bored I would climb to the highest points in Azeroth, jump off and just slowfall down, and watch the world go. It was very Zen, and it put me in a better state of mind.

So those are the reasons I miss the mage….

…that and my mage would eat babies….mofoes!

Check Yo Self Fools

So last night I decided no more Heroics for the Mage, I’m going to go straight PvP.  I slapped on the PvP gear, by the way PvP hat Bloodthirsty something something, looks horribad. A little like Orko from He-Man.  Anyway being called Frostscourge, I rocked the Frost spec, but after awhile got a little bored.

I decided to try my Arcane Spec, I loved it.

1. Slow – One of the most awesomest spells ever. I was slowing flag carriers left and right, and then grinding people to death as they slow walked torwards me.

2. Arcane Barrage – A decent mobile spell, plus it procs Arcane Missile.

3. Arcane Blast – If I’m allowed to my own devices, I kill mofoes quickly.

I know…I know…Frost for PvP, but I don’t care I’m just having fun with it. I love PoM’ing a Polymorph on someone. I wonder if there’s an Arcane PvP spec out thats decent?  I suck at Fire spec in general but one day I want to try it out.

Bottomline I love PvPing so I hope for some good fun, but WoW PvP is like being a crack whore, and keep banging my head on the headboard. but you can’t complain because you knew it would happen , and you asked for it
