Enter the Warlord

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on June 5, 2014 by theerivs

warlock5So I got invited into Alpha for Warlords of Draenor, and big thanks to my friend who shall remain nameless who hooked me up.

I didn’t get to play too much, but I delved into a little…let me give you some initial thoughts.

My battle.net app didn’t have a spot to download new client, so the forums directed me to another place ,and that worked. If you’re having problems the forums is a good place to check.

The login screen is a throwback of an earlier screen I think the original which had the dark portal before you. The music on login and character select is awesome. It sounds like a war song with it’s drums beating.

I tried the in game character copy stuff, but it didn’t work, I found out there’s a way to do a beta copy character through the account page. and that worked. I copied my Warlock, but when I tried to enter it said that race/class could not be played at the moment. Ok well I made a level 90 Orc Warlock. He started with Green level 500 gear, and plenty of bag space, and 10k gold. Not too shabby. I went Destruction cause I figured it was easiest way to start. My toon started on Draenor, and it had me plant banners, and click on flags which is an interesting new concept. The flags/banners we’re like ghost, and you click on them and it plants them and it shows up. At least no bag space taken up.  After doing a couple of quests it tosses you right into your Garrison, and you start working on them. I left it at that point. One of the uber cool things is I had ALL the mounts it seems like, so I road around on the Magic Rooster

Only problems so far, was it performed a little shotty but I was downloading the client at the same time, and/or I didn’t look at the video options they may be needed to dumb down.  So I won’t concern myself with that. I also had a problem with my level 30 talent, it would not let me pick one.

So in the days, weeks, months to come I’m sure I’ll have more news for you.

Power Overwhelming

zach_warlock-pets-loveI didn’t reach 80 this weekend, but I did hit 76. I took the Grimoire of Supremacy talent, and I love my new demons, well except Shivarra, but I’ll get to that.

Fel Imp – I love his little sayings. “It’s my favorite warlock!”

Voidlord – Just looks Bad Ass with his armor on!

Observer – Haven’t had to much chance to play with him, looking forward to maybe PvPing with him a bit.

Shivarra – I want my old Succubus back, she is way hotter, and sexier, but I guess she has her uses.

I got to say though I’m really enjoying the class, even though I don’t have portals anymore, or free food or water I don’t really seem to need those things on my own. I’m a soloing monster, and I can hold my own on dps as Destro.  When I hit 90, I might have to eat my words to all those dirty warlocks, cause I’m quickly becoming one of them.

Arena Deck Choices

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on January 7, 2014 by theerivs

ConfusedSo I’ve been getting Hearthstoned lately, and seems to me I’ve been getting the short end of the stick with card choices. I mean really do i need a +1 to spell damage on my Garrosh the warrior hero, or just getting lously choices no matter what my hero. For another example once I chose the Warlock, I didn’t get many demons at all…like 2. Really? Seriously?

As I play other people in Arena they seem to be having such a better deck then me, and when I do win it’s sheer luck. I mean someone whipped out a Deathwing card on me, and I haven’t had something epic like that in the last 5 times I’ve been in the Arena.

Is it pure RNG that’s screwing me, or is there something more to this equation I’m missing. All I know is I hate spending my hard earned gold, just to bent over and Blizzard not even giving me the courtesy of a reach around.  All I want to do is compete on even ground, and unless they do a better job with the randomness of things, I don’t know if it’s entirely possible.

Warlords of Doldrums

when-hot-girls-get-bored-they-do-thisWell pretty much Blizz dropped a few things, some I’m looking forward to. I never played an MOBA style game, but I might check out Heroes of the Storm. I’m already loving Hearthstone.

I’ve played WoW since Beta, and this is the first expansion I was like ‘Meh’. I mean we’re going back to the past. Really? Seriously?

Do I like some of the things the expansion is bringing? Yes I do, I can’t complain about upgraded models, and the Garrison thing looks interesting. The rest of it, I really am unimpressed, it’s really pushing me in other directions like TESO, or Wildstar which I’m not really into either. I am just waiting for Camelot Unchained (Thanks @JShabbing), which can’t come soon enough.

Tell you the truth I think Blizzard will be phoning it in, and not doing a whole bunch of work until they get things with Titan hammered out.

Deck Envy

tumblr_m2y7vh1Y9h1qclvneo1_1280So as you know, or may not know, Hearthstone is my latest addiction. I’ve been playing a bit. I noticed that the matchmaking system doesn’t make any sense to me. I mean one second I’m facing a total noob, then next match I’m facing people with major dragon card, Ragnaros, and Lord Jarraxus.

I mean I just have the basic cards pretty much, how can I face these people that are whipping out these monster cards. I started crafting a bit, perhaps I can make one of these awesome cards.

I have been playing the Arena alot, I figure it’s a better deal 150 gold, you usually get a deck of cards and some other stuff.  I think it’s more even keel too, cause you pick the cards ad hoc.  I wonder how it decides which hero to give you, is it random…or is there method to their madness.

Well here’s a helpful tool for Hearthstone.

Here’s a sample of one of my Warlock decks.

Feel free to share your decks, so I can drool over them..

Hearthstone Cubed

TripletsSyp put out his 3×3 on Hearthstone, and I felt compelled to show my hand as it were as well, but unlike him you get the bad news first.

Hearthstone

3 things that disgust me –

1. Bugs – Yeah I’m getting some bugs, like graphical, but I think the biggest bug I loathe is when it drops me from the match. Thus it gives me a loss, and it angers me. I’ve been reporting them when I can…but it’s only Beta so I don’t let it get to me too much.

2. That Dwarf Innkeeper – I’m getting sick of being greeted by him, and him telling me stuff. Is there a way to quiet him.

3. No interrupts – I wish there was some way to block an opponent from destroying a minion you love so much. It makes me weep my poor Core Hound who I doubled health just got destroyed, I want a way to cock block that A-hole from doing that.

3 things that I like.

1. Gameplay – I think this game is easy to play, but harder to master depending on hero class. I like the fact that you get your resources regardless. I use to hate magic and that I had to hope my card align and I get my resources I need.

2. Arena – I like the way you just randomly pick cards, but I wish you get to pick the hero you want, I like RNG but not that much RNG. I think 150 gold, or 1.99 cash is a good price point too.

3. Cards – I love these cards, and I’ve spent a poop ton on getting more already. When Hearthstone goes live, I’m going to have to open like 800 decks..or maybe a little less…but it’s getting up there. Also I’m getting attached to certain minions, and I have to have certain guys in every deck.

For me the Music is full of meh too, what I would love is maybe it tap into your Itunes library, since it might be ported to that anyway. As for wanting to play WoW, I do now but it’s been taking away from my WoW. My guild leader said something one night while I’m playing Hearthstone, he said, “I see you, and just want you to know that I see you”  LOL!

I Got A Huge Deck!

Posted in Gaming, MMORPG with tags , , on October 15, 2013 by theerivs

zach_warlock-pets-loveWell it’s actually the same size as everyone’s else, 30 cards. I am really digging Hearthstone. My best deck so far is my Priest deck. It’s been rocking. Though my Shaman deck is coming along. I just built a rogue deck and it did fairly well. I played it twice, and it won both times, but it was close. I’m not liking the Druid, but that’s just more personal preference more than anything. I don’t like that shapeshift talent.

Here’s my problem, I can’t beat the damn warlocks, never they just destroy me, I can’t believe another game I’m having a problem with these dirty bastards. I’ll get them though…I’ll get them.

I was wondering those that play Hearthstone, would you like to know what I’m using deck wise. I’m going to tweak some more things test them out, make sure that these decks are true winners, then I’ll share.

Bottomline I’m really enjoying this game so far.
